A Vicarious Monday

Well what can I say? Today the world was gifted with the first single from the new Tool CD coming out in two weeks and it is bad ass. Tool hasn't put out a cd since 2001's Lateralus, and then Maynard went on hiatus with A Perfect Circle and went on to release two studio albums with APC. Many fans like myself feel that Maynard has done his best work with

Tool, which in my opinion is vastly superior to APC not only because of the agressiveness of the vocals, but overall the musicians in Tool are more my style. Danny Carey is a incredibly superior drummer who's work stands out more so than any other drummer, he is the drum God (although Gary thinks the guy from Dreamtheatre is.) Adam Jones guitar style is more power, more angry and more direct than Billy Howardell of APC, he is more whispy and plays around with harmonies and focuses less on riffs and more on catchy bits that are less riffs and more...pieces of a song. Justin Chancellor is just a plain bad ass bassist, and to even compare Twiggy to him would be like a slap in the face. Twiggy was good at wearing women's clothing, and a novice on a bass.

The bottom line is you can check out the song here. Thats where I downloaded it. Download, enjoy, be merry.

Damn you John Mabry!!!

So here I am, sniffling because of my allergies, bored out of my skull and just plain disappointed with the Cardinals performance in the past 3 games against the Cubs. And of all people to help start the rally against the Cards, we ex-Cardinal John Mabry. Damn you John Mabry! And I'm seeing a fairly recurrent theme with the past few games, which is the bullpen blowing it for the starters. Yesterday Carptenter was having a hell of a game, went into the 7th allowing 0 runs and hard 9 Ks... what do they do but put in Thompson. Brad Thompson, Josh Thompson, whoever the fuck he is, he sucks. Damn you John Mabry! And again tonight, our"closer" if you can call him that, walks the bases loaded and gives up a grand slam. I'm beggining to think Walt Jocketty should have kept his 2nd stringers (Junior Spivey and Juan Encarnacion) and dealt for some decent arms in the bullpen. Damn you John Mabry!

Oh yea, we're playing this weds at Off Broadway again. Come see us, it'll be fun and Off Broadway is an awsome bar.

Unknown to me

So apparently our singer Heather was on 88.1 KDHX or whatever it's called, to promote our cd last night. I don't know how many people heard it because it was at like midnight, and I know I was sleeping. For the first time in our band history... we have finally gotten radio play...albeit in the middle of the night! Heather said she is probably going back next monday to talk about our show next weds at Off Broadway and to have some more of our music played. There you have it, a monumental first for the NJN gang!

Further Updates

Off Broadway finally updated their webpage and let us know who we are playing with on in a week. April 12th we are playing with Kilo Hotel and Fattback, so there ya go. Last time we were there is was an awesome night. From what I understand we go on at 9pm, so be there beforehand! And then there is the May 5th show at Just Bills, and we are booking more for the near future.

Recording studio went exceptionally well on Sunday and it was good to see Brian again. We may be going back this weekend to do guitars and mix, but that has yet to be confirmed. This all leads us to the impending NJN CD which we have decided will have 10 songs and we may bundle that with our Live@OffBroadway CD. We've also been discussing the Silent Q recordings and what should be done with them. The simple answer is nothing, but we feel that we put an awful lot of time and money into recording it and we should do something with it. We're tossing around the idea of just making a bunch of CDRs with labels- like our demo cds- that we could give to anyone who wants one. We played for a long time and anyone who repeatedly came to our shows and might want one, should get one.

Other than that, practice is tonight at my house. Baseball is back in play and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, especially after the Cardinal's old school ass whoopin' of the Phils yesterday. And I am laughing inside from I hearing the Dodger's Nomar Garciaparra is on the DL before the season even starts...

PS, Cubs suck.
