Just Shows

We've got another show coming at at a bar called Just Bills. I've never been there or even heard of it, but I'm not going to worry even one bit about it because I have faith in Gary's booking ability. And thank God I'm not booking. We're playing with a band called Lung Dust and I'm sure there will be at least one more band. The website is http://www.chunksofmeat.com/justbills.html and it's kinda scary. It looks like it is the Creepy Crawls nasty cousin.

In other news, I've been totally shirking off responsibility this week and not working too much on my paper for english class. I'm not worried though, I've written 3 pages and it only needs to be 5 and my arguement is pretty straightforeward. Other than that I've been enjoying this time off school for spring break, but find myself wishing that sometime over the course of many spring breaks, that I'd actually gotten to go somewhere. School can't end soon enough.

We've moved practices to my house until Gary buys a house. He had one under conctract but they fucked him and chose the firm contract. So he's back to square one. Now that his house is actually being looked at, and he'll probably start recieving offers soon, and that will give him some motivation to expand his horizons when looking at homes. Gary has his hands full with this house business, I really sincerely feel sorry for him, because if I were him- I'd be going out of my skull.

Tonight I think we're hanging with Matthew, hopefully drinking, and watching a good movie.

Unforseen Circumstances

Last night's show did not happen as Smileys was mysteriously closed. Tim, Gary, Julie and myself got to the bar around 8 and the lights were out, it was locked up, and there was nobody there. It was exceptioanlly creepy because it looked abandoned. There were still beers on the tables, chairs looked like they were just sat in, some videogames and fans were on... it looked like they all just up and left and turned the lights out.

While we were standing around a police officer drove by and we flagged her down. She turned out to be the hottest police officer Tim and I had ever seen, as Tim kept nodding at her when she wasn't looking... She made some phone calls and found out that Smileys closed a week and a half ago due to some sort of problems with the owners and who knows who else. So we don't know if they are closed permanently or temporary but we do know the fuckers didn't bother to call us and let us know! It all made sense then, because Gary had been calling all week to verify we were playing and he didn't get an answer all week.

It wasn't all bad though. We drove all the gear back to my place, as we're going to be having practice at my house until Gary closes and moves into his new house. After that we rented 40 Year Old Virgin, which was really, really funny and Gary was trying to make comparisons to Matthew throughout the movie. It didn't matter much to me and Gary, we were happy with a bottle of Jaegermeister ready to be drunk. So the night was salvaged for a good time.

Lest ye forget

Tonight, Not Just Noise is playing at Smileys with Steve Dedalus. Steve will be going on around 9ish and NJN will be at 10. We will be playing a long set tonight, and my sources are leading me to believe it is highly likely that MC Stabb Master Arson will be in the house to perform his legendary rendition of Das Humpty Dance. $3 gets you in the door, so come down and have be entertained.

Retards

Fuck, I mean just FUCK! I've got some serious rage going on right now and I don't know why. I'm tired of bad drivers, bad bands who can't play music but think its the venue and not them, retards at work who won't shut the fuck up and leave me alone even though I never said a single word to 'em, rednecks, those jackholes at a store I had to go to last week in High Ridge.... elderly people! great motherfucker, if I see one more blue haired skin bag driving a '95 Dodge Dynasty down the road and turn into the oncoming traffic lane and not die- I'm going to get out and finish the job!

It's just been a long week. Thank God it's almost over. My sister is coming home friday from school for her spring break and I'm looking foreward to it very much. I haven't seen her in about 5 weeks I guess.

Two shows have been annouced today, Saturday March 25th at Smileys and Weds April 12th at Off Broadway. Good times.

Dave Grohl siting!

Last night's show was one for the ages, it was a great evening on all accounts. Not only were there 80 people there, (I confirmed that with the door guy), we made some good money and we sold a fuckton of cds. There was many of our friends there like John, Julie, Matthew, Matt, Lindsy, Erik, Beth, Steve-O, Khoury and many many more! But I was really happy that Beth finally made it to a show and both her and Julie were able to peacefully co-exist for the evening. We even had a sound guy who told us our music was really fucking good and he asked for a cd to give to this other band that's coming in next week.

Off Broadway was a phenomenal place to play! The bar was huge, they even had a balcony! And the had the cleanest bar bathrooms I've ever been in. The stage was almost as big as the one at Lil Nikki's, but the sound system was far better, and the sound guy was cool as hell! He even recorded our set for us on cd! We've decided that we are going to record another live show at Off Broadway and take the best of both cds and throw together a NJN Live at Off Broadway cd that we will sell for cheap. The Cut Offs and The Frustrated Bachelors were cool as hell, and maybe we'll get the chance to play with them again.

I felt really good about last night. It wasn't one of our best performances, but it certainly wasn't one of the worst. We played good, and I personally feel like I played very well and only made minimal mistakes. I know Gary was unhappy with his game last night, even I noticed a couple mistakes of his, but overall he was good as he always is. It seem like ever since I had that horrible show at Smiley's, and have really tried to bring my so called A-Game to our shows, that I have had great shows and Gary has consistantly been disappointed. I hope that Gary will get his swerve back soon, because I don't want to be the only one feeling good about our performances.

Oh yea, and some guy who looked like Dave Grohl was there!
