A NJN Reminder

For those who don't know already, NJN is playing at the Ten Mile House this friday with our good friends Decadent Nation from Columbia MO. The Ten Mile House is located in afton and you can check out their website here for more info. Music will start around 9pm, though I don't know if we're first or second. We may go one at 9.

Where's my snow?

January is nearly gone, and where the fuck is my snow? We were supposed to get snow last night, around 6 inches and instead we've got half an inch of slush thats been melting all day. It's almost February and before I know it it'll be March and spring will be springing. I really feel like winter owes me a good snowstorm.

I thought Dashboardnutz just wanted to listen to music or watch a DVD. Turns out he was there to game. With a gamer score of 2315, I should have known that was the case. That is an improvement of 20 points over last time! He played Gears of War adding 1 achievement, and then Dashboardnutz developed a funny twitch and went to try and sleep it off or something. Crazy humans...

Dashboardnutz showed up yesterday ready to dominate. Total gamer score stands at 2295. That is a profit of 80 points over last time! He rocked out to Hexic HD, Gears of War winning 4 achievements, and then the lightweight went to bed. Freakin' wuss.

A Decadent friday night

I've just found out that we've got Decadent Nation coming in to play with us on friday January 26th at The Ten Mile House, so that should be a good night. We played with Decadent Nation last summer in columbia at The Sapphire Lounge and it was a great show. It seems like quite some time since our last show, but it was only back in December.

I was thinking about playing music awhile ago. What we do and have done since highschool. I was thinking about the little stage fright I used to get, and know for a fact that Gary used to get it aswell. Given enough time, and I think enough time has passed, it passes. Thinking back to our last show I don't recall any of that feeling, and so I suppose I've made my own transition from fear to accomplishment, just like I did with the old band. It takes time to find a comfortable space on that stage, but I think we all have now. I used to be afraid of making mistakes on stage, but now I just concentrate on the music and putting on a show.

Coming down

Decorations are coming down all over my house. Today after I saw my sister off and on her way back to school we took down the last tree. We have three trees in our house and it just ended up being the last to come down. So now there are only pieces of what remains of Christmas, waiting to be boxed up and sealed away for another eleven months.

It doesn't feel much like winter. Laura called and said it was starting to snow when she got back to Kirksville. I don't know if I'd prefer it to start snowing now, or continue with this trend of late Autumn like weather. Winter is hibernation time, not activity laden.

Sober

I had the worst hang over on monday. And now it's two years in a row that I've puked not once, but twice on New Years day. I yakked up in the shower and a couple hours later outside. Whats worse is that I've now seen pictures from New Years and video, and it's atrocious how messed up I was.

Practice was again without a singer last night. Regardless of what anyone says, we had no singer show up last night. We had a raspy voiced redhead, but there were no vocals to be heard.

Friday January 26th we're playing at The Ten Mile House in Affton. First show of the year, so lets make it a good one.

Here's how it goes

8:00pm I meet Matthew, Gary and Julie at Matthew's house and we all ride together to Gump's house for the big end of the year party.

8:30pmWe arrive at Gump's house and begin the drinking. Matthew invents a new game called, "Drink & A Shot." Matthew commences handing a bottle of vodka and a cup of soda around the room. Total in attendence:Gump, Nancy, Kelly, Jon, Matthew, Gary, Julie, Sean.

9:00pmThe bottle of Three Olive Cherry is gone. Sky Berry is the new booze for "Drink & A Shot."

9:15pmThe bottle of Sky Berry is half empty. Matthews decides we need to make an emergency liqour run. Beth, Rick, Otis, Erin and 2 friends of Nancy's arrive. Total in attendence:14

9:20pmMatthew and I walk to 7-11. The 7-11 has the worst selection of beer I've ever seen and only has half pints of booze. I get a sixer of Michalobe. Matthew gets a pint of Captain Morgan and a bottle of JaegerMeister and 4 cans of Red Bull.

9:25pmWalking back, probably stumbling back to Gump's we are nearly hit by Katie. Matthew perks up once he sees her show up. Mike Ade arrives.

9:30pmJaeger Bombs. Beth brings a tray of party pizzas and Kelly tries to heat them up but only the top of the pile gets warm resulting in her having to re-warm them after each layer is eaten.

9:45pmMatthew disappears downstairs.

10:00pmMatthew reappears with more Jaeger Bombs. Friends of Nancy's friend show up adding six more people to the party. There was a really cute girl I asked Nancy about. Nancy disappears downstairs where the girls went.

10:15pmA friend of Nancy's comes upstairs giggling and says, "They're talking about you down there." Nancy comes and pulls me downstairs to talk to this girl.

10:20pmAll I know is her name is Erica and apparently we had a conversation which I don't remember at all. To that end, I do not know if she was interested in me or not. But I do remember walking downstairs and everyone was looking at me. Very uncomfortable.

10:45pmGary asks Rick if it's true that when he was in highschool he went to Burger King and placed his unit on the tray, went up to the counter and said, "My hot-dog is undercooked." He denies it, but I still know it's true.

11:00pmJon keeps walking by the food and tearing ass. We all assume it's Gary until Kelly yells at Jon.

11:50pmEveryone is huddled around the tv waiting for midnight. I pretty much can't stop checking out Erica but in my defense I was really drunk. That's Matthew's fault.

11:55pmWhile I'm checking her out I see she's got a bottle of Schlafly in one hand and Champagne in the other. I'm in love. My exact comment when I see the beer/champagne combination is, "classy." Like I was Ron Burgundy or something...

MidnightHappy New Year. Matthew's pants are no longer on his body. Supposedly Matthew kissed me and allegedly I slapped his ass. I recall none of this.

2:00amJulie takes us all home. Laura says I had a difficult time opening the front door. Laura also says I looked at the stairs for about 2 minutes before trying to climb up them. I go to bed.

11:00amI vomit in the shower.

11:30amLaura offers me some snacks from last night. I decline, stating that I don't want to taste it twice.
