Weekend almost here

Man, it's been a long few weeks. Things at the academy are getting easier though. I"m lifting weights about 6 days a week to improve my upper body strength, as push-ups are my weakness. Today was the first PT we had that I felt pretty good about, and I know it'll just get easier if I keep it up.

I really like my classmates, they're pretty funny. I don't think a day goes by that we don't all have a riotous laugh about something. Even the instructors are seeming less overbearing and more...humane...whereas when we first started, everyone stuck me as incredibly intimidating. Well there are still these two sergeants that are kind of intimidating and I try to avoid them if at all possible.

The weekend is almost here and I'm totally looking forward to watching the MU game with my dad. I'm not usually a football fan, but I'm finding myself interested... Other than that, it's almost December... fuck man, that's really close to Christmas and I've got a lot of shopping to do.

Last weekend's show

Was a lot of fun. We haven't practiced in months, literally months, and we still managed to play a really bad ass show. I'll be the first to tell you I thought it would be one big mess, and Gary felt the same. We were both pleasantly surprised and reminded of how good it can be when it's going well. I wish I had some pictures.

Thursday, November 8th

Today is my cousin's birthday, at least I'm pretty sure it's today. So Happy Birthday Dennis. Dennis is a bit more Liberal than I am, in fact he's really liberal compared to me and Tim (Captain Bleeding Heart) would probably get along great with him. But hey, he's my cousin and that means we're always cool no matter how we fall on the political lines.

So the coolest thing at the academy so far is learning D.T. (Defensive Tactics) Today we learned the correct stances if we are interviewing someone and need to switch to a defensive stance. Then we learned the correct way to jab and cross (punching.) Then we learned how to hit this nerve by your ear, to stun the bad guy, then pull his head down towards your chest and reel back and knee them in the chest twice, then throw them to the ground. That was seriously fun.
