March things and homecomings

This friday my sister is coming home for her spring break. It's been a long time since she's been home, since she's only come home twice since Christmas. I can't wait to see her, and I'll be glad she's gonna be home for awhile. I'm sure we'll be going out and doing something special since she'll be home, and making whatever she wants for meals. This summer she'll even turn 21 and be able to come see our shows. Speaking of shows...

There are also a few NJN shows coming up in the next month. Friday March 9th we are playing a benefit show at the Ten Mile House. We won't be going on till midnight though, so I don't expect many people to be there. We are playing with 3 other bands. Also Friday March 30th we are playing at Just Bill's, the place Gary swore he'd never play again. We're playing with metal bands, so it'll be a loud night.

You gotta be kiddin me

Say hello to the Mega-Mac, the new McDonalds swammich that is apparently so popular in Japan that it's selling out and voucher tickets are being given out to secure a future swammich for the unlucky swammichless populace. How many more times can I use the word swammich?

A spring thaw...about time

Firstly I would like to say that this new Blogger being incorperated with Google suks teh kock. I mean its a goddamn pain in the ass just to sign in now and you've gotta jump through at least 3 hoops to get to my account page. They had a good thing going and then they fuck it up. Nice.

It's finally nice outside! After what seems like at least 3 weeks of freezing cold weather it's almost 50 degrees outside now. I just washed my car after I got home from work and it can only be described as glorious outside...glorious and wet.

I'm going to have to agree with Mike Mangiore 100% about 1984. The book was one of the best reads of the science fiction genre I've read in a long time. In fact I haven't read much science fiction in quite some time. I did see a clip of the 1984 movie online and it wasn't quite how I imagined when I read the scene. It was a clip when Winston and Julia are finally caught by the Thought Police, and Winston says, "We are dead" and Julia says, "We are dead" and then hidden telescreen behind the painting says, "We are dead." The movie clip just didn't capture the way I felt when I read that through, it didn't garner the same creepy feeling I got reading that passage. So perhaps I'll pass on the movie.
I'm on the cusp of needing some new reading material. I've begun reading Ulysses by James Joyce, but I don't know if it's going to hold my interest or not. It is a Tim Brown reccomendation, so it may be more literature than I bargained for. It's the last of the new books I got for Christmas. I've finished reading Gates of Fire and Slaughterhouse-Five over the past month. I need some new books.

Today sucked

Today the weather was shit. I was on my way home from St. Charles, wonderful St. Charles when I had a blowout on the highway. I don't know what the fuck I ran over but it left a gash about 4 inches long in my tire. Needless to say I've had a bad day.

While I was taking all my tools out of my trunk and piling them in the back seat in order to get to my spare tire, these two guys pull up behind my car in what can only be described as a monster truck. And like two redneck angels sent by the God of Jefferson county, they hop out and ask if they can help. I told them I had a flat and was trying to get it changed, and they said they'd help and that they've been driving all up and down the highway trying to help people who were having trouble. They got their own jack, and even had a cordless impact and had my tire changed in like 3 minutes. They were really cool, and they didn't even ask for money. I didn't have much on me, but I gave them what little I had.

Aside from blowouts, last night I finished reading 1984. I'm now somewhat enamored with the story and have a desire to see the movie that was made about it. It was written back in 1949, and I never expected such a good read from a book so old. I definately recommend it.

Growlers

I generally don't like Growlers, but last night I was just wanting to enjoy my free night with my friends. Matthew and I met Gump, Gary/Julie and Beth up at Growlers and proceeded to drink the night away. I had some new beer, something like J.W. Smith Honey Brown Lager and it may be my new favorite beer.

While we were drinking I saw Marty on his way to the bathroom, and later on he came and joined us at the table. He had been there since 5 and he was so smashed that people were turning around to see who was making all the noise. He was really loud. Then towards the end of the night he put a hole in the wall behind the booth, I'm not sure how. I guess they've got flimsy walls.

Marty realized that every one of us was wearing glasses, except Beth, so he decided we should play a game and swap glasses. So there were like 7 of us trading glasses back and forth, it was pretty funny.

My sister is coming home for the weekend today, and I haven't seen her since she went back to school after Christmas. So I can't wait for her to get home.

Allergies

Goddamn Gary and his cats. All this morning and afternoon I've been sneezing and sniffling and runny nose and the like because of his fucking cats. At whenever Julie forces him to get that huge ass dog, when it's not tearing the fuck out of his hardwood floors with it's claws, it should be terrorizing the fuck out of his cats. I've been taking all kinds of shit and nothing is helping. I'm just getting sleepier and sleepier.

Out of town type stuff

I've got to go out to Jeff city a week from saturday to take the written test/pt test for their police department. Whats going to suck is that the letter said the 1.5 mile run is on an outdoor track and will take place regardless of the weather. I hope it doesn't snow.

Today I ran a personal best on my mile, at 9:44. The 1.5 mile in Jeff city has to be in 14.:53, so with some luck maybe I can pull it out.

We got some shitty live recordings from the Lucas School House today, and I mean they are shitty. Not as bad as Pop's recording, or Just Bills but definately worse than Off Broadway. That place has the best live recordings. Practice is tommorow and I'm better Heather doesn't show.

March Shows

Looks like we've got a couple shows coming up in March that were booked this past week. Friday March 9th at the Ten Mile House we are playing a benefit show for the Foundation of Alan Reed which helps cover costs from unexpected accidents. Were are playing with a band call Thrownchild and someone called LK, a rapper I'm guessing.
Friday March 30th we are playing at Just Bill's up in beautiful Overland MO. It aint the nicest place, but a show is a show right Tim?

Retards, nothing but retards

Todays word of the day is Overreaction. So to better inform anyone who may actually read this, firstly just glance over this article for me... Boston Hoax.

If you glanced through there, this article and massive media nationwide would have you believe that 2 men were trying to induce fear through fake acts of terrorism. These two men are even being charged with trying to incite fear by using fake explosives, so on and so forth. Now it's time for the reality check.

The two men, Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens, are associates of Turner Broadcasting System and more importantly, affiliated with the TV show Aqua Teen Hunger Force. What did these men do exactly? They advertised for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie coming out by putting out self illuminated signs with a character from the show, Err, and he is giving us his classc pose- the finger.
Yes, yes, seen it before

Oh, very dangerous. Dangerous indeed. Good job state police!

C-4? The prosecutor said it looks like C-4, I shit you not. Looks like a goddamn lightbright wired for batteries!

I'm serious when I say, write your fucking congressman because this is bullshit. These guys are no more guilty than every movie producer who hangs up flyers for their movies. TBS even says that these things were out for 3 weeks in locations all over the U.S. and no one said or did anything...maybe because they all knew it was just advertisement. It just took the one dumb fuck out there whose never heard of ATHF to scream, "terrorism" and the next thing you know and fucking light bright shuts down the city. Cheers to you Assistant Attorney General John Grossman, what a dumbass!
