Holy Jebus

What a rip! I just got the call from Gary and I can't say I'm surprised.

Last night we played Just Bill's, which is just a complete shithole in Overland. There were 4 bands, and 200 people there! The show was actually sold out! Tim and Heather stuck aroud to get our band money, all $20 of it. Thats right, we got $20 for a show that had 200 people there! Fuck that place. I never did like that bar, and with good reason.

Mmmm Good Times

These last four days have been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next weekend already. Last thursday we went and saw 300 again. Friday we played a show at Lemmons, ordered some pizzas and enjoyed the other band and drank some free beer. Saturday we all went over to Gump's house where were mixed up drinks and hung out around the bonfire, and wound up walking to Fortel's at midnight to get pizzas. Good times.

I can't praise these guys enough, the band Two Girls, that we played with Friday night. They were awsome and I hope we can set up a show with them again. www.myspace.com/twogirls

NJN at Lemmons Tonight!

NJN is playing Lemmons tonight, with the band Two Girls. As far as I am aware it is only us two bands, and music will probably start sometime between 9:30-10pm. I was hoping we'd play one of the newest songs that we've been working on, Oh The Humanity, but it's just not ready yet. We've still got a good set ready to go with a song that we've only played live once, so we're still committed to pumping out new music.

Gary has a new shipment of NJN tshirts to sell tonight as well, with the new NJN-Bomb logo. I think he said we've even got some tshirts for girls too.

I hate politics

I really do, because nothing is simple and clear cut anymore. Both sides of the spectrum try their best to smear the fuck out of the other side and when all is said and done, you don't know who to believe. Current example: Barack Obama...

Lately, I'd been looking at this guys politics and thinking he might not be a bad choice, although I am first and foremost a Rudy Giuliani man. Rudy aside, Obama's "fresh and youthful" approach has been one that hasn't escaped my interest and if Rudy failed to run, Obama might become my front runner. Then today I got what was more than likely a smear email about Obama.

What chiefly caught my eye was that it stated he attended an Islamic wahabi school in Jakarta, a school of radical Islam. Now, while I don't have a problem with Muslims in general, I strongly feel that an Islamic extremist has no place in the White House. We of course don't need a suicide bomber in the oval office. So before jumping to any great, mind changing conclusion I tried to research a little on the old interwebs to see if this was true. And therein lies the problem. I found both supporting affirmation of the claim as well as denial of the claim. Nothing can ever be simple in politics.

Can't say I'm not surprised

No Heather at practie tonight, hence practice has been cancelled. Can't say I'm not surprised. DejavuX4. I am especially surprised that Tim said screw the whole practice since Heather wasn't coming, and even moreso that he said he felt we were rusty at the last show. I'd have figured he would be pushing for practice, but he sounds like he's becoming frustrated as well and adopting a policy of, if all of us aren't there then we don't practice.

So here are my honest thoughts. Heather has all but lost interest in playing music with us and she is having break up issues with the band. She is having difficulty terminating this relationship with the 3 of us and is delaying what I percieve as her desire to do something else musically, or that she no longer wants to do anything musically. This is all just speculation, but something is amiss for certain.

so the weekend recap goes like this

Last friday night we played a benefit for the F.A.R. organization, whatever the fuck they are. I thought we played a good set, but it was a terribly short set. Because they had four acts, all the sets were shortened. I mean, did they really need 2 rappers? This was the county after all, and I don't think there were a lot of rap fans. It was unbearable. I literally waited in my car out front for it to end and finally get to go on.

Yes, we finally went on for like 25 minutes at midnight. It was so stupid and I feel so sorry for all the people that came and had to pay $10 bucks to get in the door and be jipped out of a full set. $10 and they didn't even comp 'em a few free drinks! We didn't get paid, so how is it they charged twice as much as normal at the door! Outrageous! It wasn't a complete waste of time, since we actually got Heather to show up for a band event, seeing as how she's been skipping practice for the last 3 weeks.

It remains to be seen if practice will or won't happen this week.

On the downside, I found out the Ten Mile House is booked through June and after that they are changing the way bands are booked. I wasn't told what was going to be changed, but if this turns into a "Pay-to-play" bar, then its the end of the Ten Mile House for us. The only thing booked now is March 30th at Just Bills, a dive up in Overland that is impossible to get people into.

Nice

I wonder if they hid anyone else in there besides the president and Mickey Mantle...
